Worship Sunday :: Easter Sunday
Song: Beautiful Scandalous Night
Artist: The Choir
Album: Flap Your Wings
Lyrics:
Go on up to the mountain of mercy
To the crimson perpetual tide
Kneel down on the shore
Be thirsty no more
Go under and be purified
Follow Christ to the holy mountain
Sinner sorry and wrecked by the fall
Cleanse your heart and your soul
In the fountain that flowed
For you and for me and for all
CHORUS:
At the wonderful, tragic, mysterious tree
On that beautiful, scandalous night you and me
Were atoned by His blood and forever washed white
On that beautiful, scandalous night
On the hillside, you will be delivered
At the foot of the cross justified
And your spirit restored
By the river that poured
From our blessed Savior’s side
CHORUS
Go on up to the mountain of mercy
To the crimson perpetual tide
Kneel down on the shore
Be thirsty no more
Go under and be purified

Song: We Love You Jesus
For death and life and freedom. Those words are ringing in my heart today.
Shane & Shane
We Love You, JesusOpening the door to dine with Him
Traveling to earth to let us in
Laying down His glory crown of old
Setting up the wedding feast foretold
Oh, we can’t contain our love
We turn it up loud
We love you Jesus
For so many reasons
For death and life and freedom
Even now we love You
What manner of love is this that You would say,
“Your sin is mine; I’ll take it to the grave” (then rising)
Death, O death, where is your sting today?
Death is swallowed up in victory
We love you Jesus
In and out of seasons
In valleys and on top of mountains
Even now can we sing:
We love you!
Future of Forestry : Slow Your Breath Down
A different perspective this week: a song written from the perspective of God speaking to us.
Future of Forestry - Slow Your Breath Down
Quite a bit lighter and more ambient than the previous song I posted, this song has a different style of music and skill. This band, Future of Forestry was formed out a worship band called Something Like Silas. The main song writer Eric Owyoung has rotated many different musicians but remains the original member. He writes this song from God’s perspective, sharing his understanding of God’s heart for us that,
If you leave I’ll still be close to you
When all your fears rain down
I’ll take you back a thousand times again
I’ll take you as my own
This video is brilliant and they are so talented, each one of them playing at least two instruments if not more. The xylophone, ambient guitar is intoxicating. And the drum beat is probably one of the most original I’ve heard in a long time.

Mortal : Cryptic
Album : Lusis
This one won’t resonate with all of you, but it’s a memory of one of my earliest worship experiences. Not from a church, youth group or chapel, this experience came in the middle of a moshpit at a Mortal concert in the Gothic theatre, Denver, CO.
This influential industrial band during my junior high years, Mortal, fronted by Jerome and Jyro, led a call that began to wake my heart to the world:
Prisoners of a genetic disorder
Eyes so bright in the shadows
Fearing tomorrow when sunlight can kill
But they have love
Millions of people walk the cracks in the streets where we live
Why can’t we give something they’re dying for?
Peace.
Hope.
Love.
Jesus Christ.
I would die for.

Phil Wickham : You’re Beautiful
Album : Cannons
via fancyprocrastination:
Phil Wickham - You’re Beautiful
When we arrive at eternity’s shore
Where death is just a memory and tears are no more
We’ll enter in as the wedding bells ring
Your bride will come together and we’ll sing… You’re BeautifulBest sung in large groups at the top of your lungs. - Guaranteed tears.
